The first things that come to mind when I think of fall are crisp weather, pumpkin spice everything, cozy fires and the kickoff of entertaining season. Entertaining doesn’t have to mean high stress levels and fancy decor. Check out my top 6 tips for creating the perfect table + atmosphere for fall entertaining!
1) A Centerpiece That's Just Right
Fresh centerpieces are beautiful and impressive, but usually don’t last more than a few days before they begin to droop and die. Why not have one you can leave up all season? Decorate your table with faux gourds, pumpkins, pine cones, fruits and veggies to make a massive, festive cornucopia. My family has slowly collected these over the years and now have a pretty large collection!
2) Simple, Neutral Dishware/Serveware
Who has the space (or budget) to buy dishes for every season? My go to are simple, white ceramic dishes and gold flatware. They act as a clean palette and work with any color or seasonal decor. For fall, I like to add the usual oranges, yellows and reds but also like to throw in some beiges, dark purples and browns!
Add some simple white votive or pillar candles on the table to create a cozy intimate feel. Make sure they are unscented for before and during the meal so the perfume smells do not overpower the room. After dinner, feel free to light up your favorite apple cider or pumpkin candles!
4) Fall Statement Pieces
I usually like the centerpiece to be the main attraction when it comes to the perfect fall table; but love to add a few festive pieces. Cloth napkins are small to store and are a great way to add to a theme. I love my beige napkins with little embroidered turkeys!
5) A Cozy Fire (optional)
Set the festive mood with a roaring fire. After the meal, your guests will grab their beverages and mingle around the fireplace. Not enough seating in the family room? Make your party feel more casual with large pillows and cozy throws for your guests to sit on. Bring out a board game to keep the fun going!
6) Crowd-Pleasing Drinks in Large Quantities
Entertaining takes a lot of prep work and effort during the event. Save time and energy by making a batch of Southern Breeze Sweet Tea Cold Brew. No need to wait for the water to boil and it is ready in just 5 minutes! Try a Southern Breeze Sweet Tea Cocktail recipe!
