We're turning over a brand spankin' new leaf in 2018! Join us in our New Year's Resolution to sit less and move more. Between working at the computer, watching TV, and driving the car, it sometimes feels like we're sittin' all day long!
So you can skedaddle on outta that chair and put your boots back on, Sweeties! Because we’ve got plenty of easy tips and tricks for how to get a mini-workout, anytime, anywhere. Adding more movement to your day will improve your flexibility, health, and mood. With just a bit of effort (and some sugar-free sweet tea), y'all are gonna be fit as a fiddle!
1. Sweet Tea To-Go
Who doesn't love an afternoon sippin' on sweet tea with your friends and family? Turn it into exercise! Brew up some real quick sweet tea, pour it into a jar, top it with a lid and a straw and y'all are good to go! Instead of sittin' around on the couch, go for a walk in the fresh air and sunshine.
2. Squat and Stretch While You Wait
Think about all those times you're doing nothing but sitting or standing...brushing your teeth, waiting for that water to boil for your sweet tea, watching over the biscuits in the oven. While you're waiting, do some squats and stretches! If you do this every day, you'll be more flexible and you'll feel better.
3. Dance Your Way To a Clean House
Cleaning the house? What a chore! But it doesn't always have to be a bore. Turn on some sweet tunes and dance while you're at it! You'll burn a fair amount of calories and have a peachy time!
Out and About
1. Sneakers on Hand
Keep a pair of sneakers in your car or bag. This way, y'all are ready whenever the opportunity to walk comes up!
2. Grocery Shopping Bicep Curls
Walking down an empty aisle in the grocery store? Turn it into a mini-workout by doing bicep curls with your groceries! Lift the basket or bag, bending your arm upwards at the elbow, to workout your biceps. Y'all may be a bit sore the next day, but it'll be worth it!
3. Choose Walking or Biking
Running an errand to the post-office, if it's near, doesn't require a car! All you need is a pair of good walking shoes or sneakers and, if y'all like, a bike! Try biking or walking for errands that aren't too far from home. It'll be an instant mood-booster!
4. Park and Walk
Skip the drive-through, park the car far from the cafe, and walk inside! While waiting in line for your order, you can stretch your calves and rotate your ankles. Adding little stretches here and there will help with flexibility, especially if you spend a lot of time sitting!

Every time you get up to go to the restroom, add in a little stretch! Whether you stand or sit at your desk, stretching out your arms, shoulders, and hips will help you feel less stiff at the end of a long work day. Get your coworkers to do it with you!
2. Take a Walking Break
Split your lunch hour in half and spend the last 30 minutes going for a walk! When you get back to your desk, you'll feel refreshed and awake.
3. Skip the Conference Room, Walk Instead
Got a long phone meeting? No problem, Sweetie! Take it on-the-go so you're not sitting at your desk for a whole hour. Walk around the office or outside. If you're meeting with colleagues, ask them to turn the meeting into a walking meeting!
