Summer may be coming to an end but for most of us, the heat is here to stay for a while. When it comes to dressing up for a back yard cookout or party, many people think you have to choose between feeling cool and looking fabulous. Here are a few of my go to fashion items that do both!
- Straw Hat- Straw Hats are a great way to block out the sun but also allow your head to breathe! I love this one from Banana Republic. Remove the ribbon and add your own to match the rest of your outfit! Cotton Maxi Dress- I know what you are thinking- why would I wear so much fabric in summertime? I live in maxi dresses in the summer months. The cotton fabric is super breathable and dries quickly. The long length makes it versatile enough to wear to a BBQ, out to dinner with friends or to a wedding event. This one is great for any type of event. To make your look seem more formal add some summer wedges (loving these), tassel earrings (so many colors to choose from!) and a bold colored lip!
- Jean Shorts + Fitted Cotton V Neck Tee + Long Pedant Necklace- Denim doesn’t have to mean ultra casual. Pair a cuffed jean shorts (Loving these ones for their longer length) with a relaxed cotton V neck T shirt. These J. Crew V-necks are super comfy and come in a ton of colors. If you are looking to jazz up this outfit add a long, sleek pendant necklace. I have had my eye on this tassel one!
- Linen Everything!- Whether it’s a linen smock dress (like this), Linen culottes (loving these) or even a ¾ length blouse- linen helps you stay cool and look great.
- Boho Printed Smock Pants with Plain Tank Top- These pants aren’t just for music festivals and are making a huge comeback this season. Pair these fun printed, comfy pants with a plain tank top and beachy waves!
*Don't forget your ice cold sweet tea in hand to keep you cool and refreshed while looking fabulous!
