The Grand Slam Peach Spritz with frozen peach slice and mint sprig

What You Need

  • 3 oz Southern Breeze Peach Sweet Tea, brewed and chilled
  • 2 oz alcohol-free sparkling white wine, or dry sparkling apple cider
  • 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 2 to 3 fresh mint leaves
  • 1 frozen peach slice, for garnish
  • 1 fresh mint sprig, for garnish

How To Make It

  1. Wake up the mint. Clap the mint leaves lightly between your hands to release the oils, then drop them into a wine glass filled with ice.
  2. Pour it together. Add the chilled Peach Sweet Tea and the lemon juice.
  3. Top it off. Add the alcohol-free sparkling wine or sparkling cider.
  4. Garnish. Add a frozen peach slice and a fresh mint sprig, then serve.

Good For

  • A tennis tournament watch party, since it pours pretty and holds its own next to whatever else is on the table
  • Brunch, when you want something that feels a little special without being complicated
  • Anyone who wants a drink that looks fussed over but really isn't
  • A toast that doesn't require everyone at the table to be drinking alcohol

A Few Tips

  • Brew the tea ahead of time so it's fully chilled, a warm base will melt your ice too fast and water down the spritz.
  • Don't skip clapping the mint, just dropping it in whole barely releases any of the aroma.
  • Freeze your peach slices ahead of time. They double as ice cubes that flavor the drink instead of watering it down.
  • Making a batch for a group? Mix the tea, lemon juice, and mint in a pitcher, then top each glass individually with the sparkling wine right before serving so it stays bubbly.

Questions About This Recipe

Is this spritz sugar free?

Peach Sweet Tea itself has no sugar, but most alcohol-free sparkling wines and even dry ciders carry some natural sugar, they're rarely fully sugar free. Check the label on whichever one you use if that matters to you, since it varies by brand.

What can I use instead of alcohol-free sparkling wine?

Dry sparkling apple cider works well, or plain sparkling water if you want it simpler. Each changes the finish a little, so try what you have on hand first.

Why clap the mint instead of just adding it?

Clapping the leaves between your hands bruises them just enough to release their oils, which brings out a lot more aroma and flavor than dropping the leaves in whole.

Can I make this for a group?

Yes, mix the tea, lemon juice, and mint in a pitcher ahead of time, then top each glass individually with the sparkling wine right before serving so it stays bubbly.

Ten minutes, one wine glass, and everyone at the table asking what's in it. Grab the tea and find out for yourself.
