5 Ways to Keep Cool this Summer

5 Ways to Keep Cool this Summer

Summers in the South can get hot, y’all! The summer season brings tons of fun (just think of the cookouts, family vacations, refreshing summer recipes, and more!), but it also brings heat, humidity, and the feeling of being very uncomfortable! Adding hot weather into the mix can be frustrating, especially during the days where it seems almost impossible to find any relief!

Here at Southern Breeze, we're all about that fresh, breezy life. Luckily, there are ways to keep you cool, calm and collected when the temps start rising! Before you run inside to hide in the air condition all summer long and miss out on summer fun, take a peek at our 5 ways to stay cool this summer to share with y'all. Let's get to our list!

1) Make a cool treat:

We're always looking for more excuses to create in the kitchen! Have a sweet tooth? Take this as an opportunity to whip up low calorie or healthier, treats for your family. We’re talkin’ about healthy smoothies, low calorie milkshakes, and popsicles. The options are endless! We love makin' sweet tea popsicles when we feel a sweat coming on. It’s a hit with the Southern Breeze family! See our favorite popsicle recipe right here by Tara from Lace and Grace blog.

2) Wear light clothes:

Combat the heat by wearing light color clothing and material blends that are made with cotton. Cotton tends to be lighter and more breathable on your body. Other fabrics to consider are linen, rayon, and denim. Darker color clothing absorbs the sunlight and can make ya feel even warmer! That's not fun, Sweeties! Keeping cool at night? Make sure you're sheets are made with a cotton blend and not a heavier fabric like wool or flannel. Use a lighter blanket too and tuck that heavy comforter away for a cooler day or for the fall months.

3) Stay in the shade:

They always say that the best parking space is in the shade-are we right, Sweeties? It's true! Shady spots are on the cooler side and provide a nice, quick break from the summertime sun. Have a porch? Take this as an opportunity to invite the neighbors over for some relaxing time! Does a big shady tree occupy your yard? Invite your pals over for a a picnic underneath of it to help beat the heat-how fun!

4) Take a dip:

Up for a swim? Hanging around water is the ideal way to keep on the cooler side of summer and one of our most favorite ways to cool down (next to sweet tea sippin’ of course!). Make sure you lather on the SPF to protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays! Go fishing, plan a day at the beach, or have a morning picnic at the lake! Want to stay close to home with the kiddos? Turn on all the sprinklers and run through the water as a family or spend some time at a local pool with your most favorite pool floats. The last one out of the water is a rotten egg! :)

5) Stay Hydrated:

Did you know that the human body is made up of over 60% water? It’s true! A lot of that water can be lost in sweat when the son beats down on ya. It’s essential to make sure those liquids are replenished. Sippin’ on Southern Breeze Sweet Tea will help keep you cool, calm, and collected! With our variety of flavors, we offer a zero calorie, sugar free, delicious sweet tea that will cool down the family on the hottest of days! Wanna stay on the cooler side? Fill up an ice cube try with your favorite flavor of Southern Breeze, let freeze over night, and add the sweet tea ice cubes to your mason jar and fill it with MORE Southern Breeze!
