The Best Southern Travel Destinations
The South is our home (Southern Breeze Sweet Tea is from Marietta, GA!) and such a patchwork quilt of different places, people, and cultures! Our favorite thing about the South is how different each region is. Every city has its own traditions, landmarks, and communities. Hankering for a trip this summer? We're sharing our favorite Southern travel destinations below!
Savannah, Georgia
This romantic coastal city is full of history, gorgeous trees, and cobblestone streets! The days are usually always warm and the downtown area is small enough to spend the day walking or biking through.
Highlight: Savannah Music Festival in March and April
Charleston, South Carolina
There's a piece of history on every corner in Charleston! Gardens, quaint streets, and beautiful old architecture...imagine strolling through this port city and enjoying the galleries, bakeries, and breweries!
Highlight: King Street for shopping, live music, and strolling among magnolia blossoms
New Orleans, Louisiana
If y'all haven't made your way down to New Orleans, what're ya waiting for? It's got everything - music, food, culture - and so many different kinds! In one day, you can try five different cuisines, visit a jazz club, stroll through the French Quarter, and see some of the most beautiful and eclectic architecture in the South.
Highlight: House of Blues for live music, po' boys, and jambalaya
Nashville, Tennessee
Music and food, music and food...two of the best darn things in life! And Nashville's the capital of both. This vibrant city is easiest to travel around by car or cab...unless you wanna walk off all the gooood Southern food you're bound to eat!
Highlight: Cumberland River Pedestrian Bridge for gorgeous city views
Asheville, North Carolina
Eat all the Southern cuisine you want, then hike a bit of the Appalachian trail! No matter what part of the city you're in, you'll get to see the quirky, friendly culture of Asheville. Every season is mild, and summer is the least touristy!
Highlight: Biltmore Estate for a stroll through 75 acres of gardens and a luxurious mansion
Atlanta, Georgia
Atlanta manages to keep its history while thriving as a modern hub! Spring in Atlanta is full of flowers in bloom, so take a stroll to see the dogwoods and azaleas. Visit the museums and world-famous restaurants for some of the finest cuisine in the South! The only problem with the Peach City is that there's TOO much to do (y'all won't wanna leave)!
Highlight: High Museum of Art for world-famous paintings
