Keto Friendly Drinks - Southern Breeze Sweet Tea
Let us tell ya, it is almost startling how sugar and carbohydrates can really sneak into your everyday diet, especially beverages. If you are not careful Sweeties, that fruity-tootie-smoothie you are sippin’ on or that syrupy, caramel latte you bought this morning could be loaded with large amounts of unnecessary “stuff” that your body does not need. And that “stuff” can leave you feelin’ sluggish, moody, bloated. The list goes on and on- and that’s no fun y’all…no fun at all!
The keto diet has become oh-so-popular recently. Cookbooks and websites are popping up all over the place with the latest tips to keep up with keto. If you aren’t familiar with keto (short for ketogenic diet) it’s all about watchin’ those carbs and watchin’them closely!
Sure, you can drink plain, zero calorie H2o all day long to stay in line with your diet-hey that can get boring… fast! What is the fun of that? But whether you are on the keto diet, a low carb, diet, or just want to watch your sugar and over all health, we have some fabulous drink options for you to make at home and they are real simple! Get ready to take notes, here we go!
Keto Raspberry Chai Seed Lemonade Slushie:
When you hear of the word “slushie”, you may think of a frozen drink that is full of food coloring, sugar, and mystery ingredients. Right? Or taking a bunch of fruit juices and blending them with ice? No way! Well this take on a slushie is actually easy on the ingredients…and the eyes too if we may add!
What makes it on the healthy side you ask? It includes luscious lemons (kind on the digestive track), chia seeds (they are packed with fiber and omega-3 fatty acids that your body loooves), and cooling coconut water (which is super hydrating)! Can we say great for post workout sips? You bet! Add our Southern Breeze Cold Brew into the blender, combine all the goodness and you have yourself and oh-so-easy, healthy, and satisfying drink. Make a batch, add in a straw, sip slowly, and fall in love with the flavors… and benefits too! See the complete recipe here.
Low Carb Strawberry Smoothie:
Fruit smoothies may seem harmless but did you know that some fruit could be LOADED with sugar and carbohydrates (eeek!)? While it is in fact natural sugar, on the keto diet, you must choose your fruits very, very wisely. Raspberries, blueberries, and strawberries are all good options for keto smoothie recipes since they are lower in carbs compared to other fruits like bananas. Do be careful with blueberries since they are higher in carbs out of the bunch.
In just 4 ingredients, you can mix yourself a rewarding treat. Making your own smoothies at home is less expensive than store bought ones and you can keep tabs on the ingredients that go into it, helping you say on track with your diet.
INGREDIENTS:
- 1 lb Frozen strawberries
- 1 1/2 cup unsweetened nut milk
- 1 large, ripe Avocado
- 1/4 cup keto friendly sweetener like Splenda
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Puree all ingredients in a blender, until smooth. Adjust sweetener to your liking.

Seems easy right? Well it is! We asked our friend Tori(@tori_tries-keto) for some tips when sippin’ keto and her advice for starters is:
- Check sweeteners! Some sweeteners are NOT keto friendly because they can actually spike your glucose levels-oh no!
- Check ingredients in drinks! If something is full of chemicals, it’s probably not going to be good for you or your diet.
- Find things you can add to water. It helps boost your water intake!
