Green Veggie Favorites

Celebrate the change from winter to spring by adding bright colored, green veggies to spruce up your plate, y’all! Mama always said, “Ya gotta eat your vegetables!” So let’s listen to her! Plus, vegetables are amazing for your body and are packed full of the nutrients you need to keep on goin’! Green vegetables are lower in calories so we can keep out plates full of the good stuff! Here is our ‘lil list of our favorite green vegetables to munch on this season! Let’s get to it! 

 1) Broccoli  

 Broccoli makes the top of our list. It’s easy to find in the super market and easy to make right there on the stove. Broccoli is rich in fiber and vitamins to keep you strong! It’s a great source of folic acid and also contains a dose of vitamin C to help keep those seasonal colds away! 

 

2) Asparagus 

 Ahh, asparagus. This mighty veggie has to be one of our favorite springtime foods. Asparagus is low in fat, high in vitamins like A, C, E, and K, and makes one of the top favorites on our list! If you’re keeping an eye on your blood sugar, this green is for you as it enhances the ability for insulin to transport glucose from the bloodstream to the cells. 

 

3) Cucumber 

Gotta LOVE cucumbers, y’all! Cucumbers are naturally hydrating, wonderful for your skin, and make a lovely afternoon pick me up snack! Cucumbers are easy peasy to find in the market and are so versatile. Add them to your smoothie or munch on plain-it’s up to you, Sweetie! 

 

4) Spinach 

Don’t forget the leafy greens like spinach, Sweeties! Spinach is low in fat and packs a protein punch with fiber and vitamins A, C, E, and K. So put it on your salad plate or sauté it with some garlic, turmeric and onion
