Our 5 Favorite Skinny Southern Recipes

Sweeties, we LOVE Southern Food and we do mean LOVE! When we are scooping second (and third) helpings of Momma’s mashed potatoes onto our plates and gobbling up every last crumb, it has us thinkin’. There has to be a way to enjoy the same Southern dishes without the nervous feelin’ when we step on the scale, right? RIGHT!

We have some of our favorite recipes that you can enjoy without that sinking guilt feeling!

 

Southern “Fried” Chicken:

Fried Chicken is a staple in the South and most of us Southerns have been eatin’ fried chicken since...well.. birth. Turns out, you can have the same crispy crunch of fried chicken without it actually being fried! Want to know the secret weapon? Corn Flakes! Baking your chicken in corn flakes and panko breadcrumbs cuts the calories down but not the crunch you love. Sweet deal!

Low Carb Creamy Vegetable Soup:

Let’s face it, creamy, decadent soups though warming, can jiggle on your hips for months! Soups can be loaded with veggies and all that good stuff but when you take a closer slurp, they can also be loaded with salt, carbs, and fats that are just no good when you are keeping an eye out for what you eat!
